Anyone closely following the Chinese economy, as the country celebrates the Year of the Snake, cannot help but notice an interesting paradox: while the GDP has grown by leaps and bounds, turning China into the world’s second largest economy, the country has yet to develop winning industries that will make GDP growth sustainable, as was the case with England, the US, and Japan in the past.
