Ex-UConn trustee avoids prison on larceny plea

(AP) — A Vernon man who faced up to seven years in prison on prescription drug fraud charges and accusations he moved $73,000 of federal aid into his and others' accounts while working at the University of Connecticut has avoided prison time. An investigation showed he made unauthorized account transfers while working in the school's student financial aid office.

Stanford breaks UConn's 47-game winning streak

No. 6 Stanford defeated the University of Connecticut women's basketball team in overtime on Monday, snapping the top-ranked Huskies' 47-game winning streak. UConn went undefeated last year, winning 40 straight games to take its second straight national championship.
