Cook County Jail guard faces theft charge

CHICAGO (AP) — A Cook County Jail correctional officer who allegedly conspired with an inmate to buy what he thought was stolen merchandise has been charged with felony theft. In a news release issued Friday, the Cook County's State's Attorney's office says 48-year-old Fernando Munoz of Cicero was arrested during an undercover operation.

Couple pleads guilty to stealing from monks

Josh E. Hutchins entered the plea to charges of theft and unlawful access to a computer Friday morning in Nelson Circuit Court. The Hutchinses must make restitution of $600,000 to the Abbey of Gethsemani and forfeit $42,000 seized from their bank account as well as their home, two vehicles, two widescreen TVs, six watches and exercise equipment.

Pearl River officials plead not guilty to theft

(AP) — The mayor and town clerk of Pearl River have pleaded not guilty to felony theft and malfeasance charges brought against them earlier this month by a St. Tammany Parish grand jury. Mayor James Lavigne and town clerk Dianne Bennett Hollie are accused of using public money for personal gain.
