Man charged with murder in SWAT officer shooting

The district attorney's office says 36-year-old David Martinez was charged Thursday with murder with special circumstances in the Tuesday attack in suburban San Gabriel. Prosecutors say Martinez, a suspected member of the Mongols, shot Shaun Diamond in the back of the head with a shotgun as the officer helped serve a search warrant in an operation against the gang.

Man charged in death of Rockford attorney in crash

(AP) — First-degree murder charges have been filed against the alleged driver of a vehicle that crashed into a car driven by a Rockford attorney as it fled a crime scene. Locke, D'Angelo Brooks and Ronaldo Ford, both 19, are accused of fleeing Boone County sheriff's police after a report of an armed robbery at a Belvidere cellphone store.
