Ex-fire department employee sues Springfield

(AP) — A former fire department employee is suing the city of Springfield, accusing it of age discrimination. In the lawsuit filed last week in Lane County Circuit Court, Linda Morris, says city officials forced her to retire last November because of her age and denied her a hearing to address a forgery allegation.

Mail carrier bitten by dog in Springfield

A spokeswoman for the U.S. Postal Service says carrier Randall McCutcheon was delivering mail Thursday in the Liberty heights neighborhood when two pit bulls came charging out the front door. Police responded to the scene but it's not clear of the dogs' owner will face charges.

Mother sues plane companies in children's death

(AP) — The mother of two children killed in a 2012 plane crash in southwest Missouri alleges in a lawsuit that eight companies' negligence contributed to the crash. The Springfield News-Leader reports (http://sgfnow.co/1rSWeTV ) Marshall's lawsuit alleges all eight companies were negligent in not making sure the single-engine plane functioned properly.
