Whistleblower: LNG site contamination ignored

(AP) — A biologist who consulted on preparations for a liquefied natural gas plant planned at Coos Bay has told a federal agency that contaminated soil issues at the site were ignored and not reported properly to state environmental regulators. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has concluded the limited environmental impacts from the $7 billion gas-exporting plant can be mitigated.

US rig count down 18 to 1,875

HOUSTON (AP) — Oilfield services company Baker Hughes Inc. says the number of rigs exploring for oil and natural gas in the U.S. fell by 18 this week to 1,875. The Houston firm said Friday in its weekly report that 1,536 rigs were exploring for oil and 338 for gas.
