Michigan soldier dies of Afghanistan combat wounds (AP) — A 38-year-old Army sergeant from western Michigan who was serving his third tour of duty in Afghanistan has died from injuries he sustained last month in an insurgent attack, the Pentagon said Wednesday. According to the Pentagon, Schoonhoven was wounded Dec. 15 when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device in Kabul, Afghanistan.
