Connecticut panel scraps proposed charter school moratorium

(AP) — A legislative proposal to place a two-year moratorium on new charter schools in Connecticut has hit a snag. Charter bill continues treading water in Senate committee

The Senate committee that handles education legislation ended Friday afternoon without voting on Gov. Larry Hogan's charter school expansion bill, after Democratic Sen. Paul Pinsky, chairman of the subcommittee on education, proposed removing language that would result in the Maryland State Board of Education losing authority to direct a county to grant a charter.
