Dallas police see spike in killings in June

The increase coincides with a rise this year in violent crime and police say the root of nearly all killings are other crimes such as domestic violence, robberies and illicit drug use. Authorities say an increase in killings in the 1980s and 1990s often were the result of gang turf wars and crack cocaine use.

Southwest says it has contract deal with flight attendants

DALLAS (AP) — Southwest Airlines says it has a tentative contract agreement with the union representing its flight attendants. The airline said late Thursday that the contract would run through May 2019 and includes pay raises, possible bonuses and changes in work rules.

Prosecutor: Paxton fraud evidence to go to grand jury soon

DALLAS (AP) — A special prosecutor says he plans to present a North Texas grand jury with evidence of first-degree felony securities fraud against Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. Schaffer says the Texas Rangers uncovered new evidence during its investigation of allegations that Paxton broke state securities laws.
