Softball coaches' ex-treasurer charged with embezzlement

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — State police say a former treasurer of the Rhode Island Fast Pitch Softball Coaches Association has been charged with embezzling from the organization. State police superintendent Co. Steven O'Donnell said in a statement Saturday that 55-year-old Steven Zina of Bristol was arrested at his home on Friday.

Bristol proposal takes aim at recreational marijuana stores

Town Council Chairman Nathan Calouro says he wants to change the town's zoning regulations to limit where stores and cultivation centers may open. Calouro and Dan Beardsley, executive director of the Rhode Island League of Cities and Towns, didn't know of any other Rhode Island municipality taking similar pre-emptive steps.
