Alaska extends no-penalty changes for Cabos flights; long closures for hurricane-hit hotels

Some major resorts in Los Cabos, slammed by Hurricane Odile, won't reopen until at least the end of October.  That's prompting airlines, including Alaska Airlines which is a major carrier from Seattle and California to the Mexican resort, to extend no-penalty change fees.

Alaska Airlines to pay $500K federal penalty

SEATTLE (AP) — The U.S. Attorney's office in Seattle has announced Alaska Airlines will pay $500,000 to settle FAA claims over a 2010 electrical fire in a jet was parked at a gate in Anchorage, Alaska. The penalty stems from an improperly positioned metal clamp that attaches an air hose to a panel in the cockpit of the Boeing 737-400.
