In recent weeks, William Shatner has emerged as a social media icon of sorts. Not only did the actor, pitchman and onetime Captain Kirk engage an in-orbit astronaut in a Twitter chat, he also joined the more raw world of Reddit and took a stand against what he saw as a culture there that permits a fair amount of racism and bigotry.
