Groupon's daily deal in Paris this morning was 50% off a 40 euro coupon for Amazon.fr, Amazon's French website. This is interesting for two reasons: all the acquisition rumors  swirling around Groupon and reports that Amazon wants to make an investment in LivingSocial, Groupon's biggest competitor. Amazon is the king of e-commerce but has been caught flat-footed by the new wave of social/group buying commerce companies like Groupon and flash sales sites like Gilt Groupe.
