Cubs hire John Mallee as batting coach

John Mallee, who helped coach Jose Altuve to the batting title last season, is leaving the Astros. Mallee has been hired by the Chicago Cubs to be the team’s batting coach. He replaces Bill Mueller, who resigned earlier this week. Mallee spent two seasons with the Astros. He’s originally from the Chicago area.
