Fungus adds to asthma for 5 million worldwide

U. TORONTO (CAN) — Antifungal treatment could improve the health of an estimated 4,837,000 people with asthma and allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA), according to new research. The study also re-estimates the total number of asthmatics worldwide—a staggering 193 million sufferers. Twenty-four million asthma sufferers live in the United States, 20 million each in India and China, and seven million in the United Kingdom.
