Apparently the effort by Boston hospitals to make their campuses smoke-free is contagious. Cambridge Health Alliance announced that it will institute a similar ban come Jan. 1. The hospital system already prohibits smoking indoors, but the ban will extend to the entire grounds at its Cambridge, Somerville, and Whidden Hospital sites.
