Japan blue chips lead Nikkei Average lower
LOS ANGELES (MarketWatch) -- Japanese stocks moved lower in early Thursday trading, with the Nikkei Stock Average falling 0.3% to 11,428.72 after staging a 3.8% rally in the previous session. Blue chips, which had been the recent outperformers, took the brunt of the selling, with the broader Topix rising 0.3%. Auto makers and tech firms were among the decliners, with Canon Inc. down 1.5%, Advantest Corp. losing 2.2%, NEC Corp. falling 1.9%, Mitsubishi Motors Corp. off 2.6%, and Nissan Motor Co. slipping 0.3% ahead of its earnings report due Friday.
