Gold settles lower for a fourth straight session

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Gold futures fell Tuesday, logging a fourth straight session of declines as investors focused their attention on gains in U.S. equities. April gold shed $5.30, or 0.3%, to settle at $1,604.20 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange, the lowest close for a most-active contract since Aug. 14.
